Give a Kitty a Home Rescue Inc.

Give a Kitty a Home Rescue Inc. (GAKAH) is a Melbourne-based cat rescue organisation focused on rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming cats while reducing stray numbers through practical community programs. They run a network of foster carers who take vulnerable cats into safe homes while they recover or wait for adoption, and they match those cats with suitable permanent owners. GAKAH supports accessible veterinary care through clinics such as Wyndham Community Vet and helps people access affordable desexing, vaccinations and medical treatment for their cats. A key part of their work is community-facing: they run desexing campaigns and outreach to assist low-income and vulnerable residents across Melbourne to desex and vaccinate their cats, and they provide education about responsible pet ownership to help prevent abandonment and improve welfare. Much of the organisation’s funding comes from donations, and contributions are used primarily to cover veterinary bills for rescued animals; donations over $2 are tax-deductible. GAKAH shares foster opportunities, success stories and calls for support on social channels and through community engagement, aiming to create healthier outcomes for individual cats and to reduce stray cat numbers in the wider community.
