Pets Of The Homeless Australia is a community-focused non-profit based in Cheltenham, Victoria, that helps people and their pets stay together during hard times. Founded in 2015, the group runs practical programs for pet owners experiencing homelessness or financial hardship, including a Pet Food Bank to keep animals fed, subsidies and support for veterinary care to address medical needs, and emergency boarding and foster-care arrangements when owners are temporarily unable to care for their animals. The organisation also engages in community outreach, fundraising and volunteer programs to raise awareness and resources, and has provided grants for urgent veterinary treatment. Their approach centers on treating pets as family members and removing barriers that might force owners to give up their animals — offering both immediate help (food, medical support, emergency shelter) and pathways to longer-term support through volunteers and community partnerships. The organisation shares resources, news updates and opportunities to get involved through donations and volunteering, inviting locals to help sustain the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable pets and their owners.
