Koala Rescue Inc is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit charity based in South Australia that focuses on the hands-on rescue, rehabilitation and release of sick, injured and orphaned koalas. They operate a free 24/7 rescue service covering the Adelaide metropolitan area, the Adelaide Hills and the Mt Lofty Ranges, and are supported by a network of veterinarians and an experienced membership. Rescued koalas receive care and rehabilitation in line with regulatory requirements, with the ultimate aim of returning animals to their original territories whenever possible. The group funds its work entirely through donations and koala adoptions, directing 100% of those funds to koala care. Beyond frontline rescue and treatment, Koala Rescue Inc runs educational programs for schools and community groups to raise awareness of koala conservation and welfare, and maintains partnerships with veterinary clinics and treatment centres to ensure appropriate medical care. As an entirely volunteer-operated organisation, their strengths are community-based response, experienced volunteers, veterinary collaboration, and a clear focus on rescue, rehabilitation, release and public education to support koala welfare.
