Dogs Victoria

Dogs Victoria is the peak Victorian organisation representing owners and breeders of purebred dogs, founded in 1930 and based in Skye, Victoria, Australia. With a membership of over 8,000 people, the group acts as the state member body for Dogs Australia and focuses on promoting responsible breeding, the health and welfare of purebred dogs, and a strong community for owners and breeders. They run and manage multiple registers for purebred dogs, offering pedigree registration and certification services that support breeders and help maintain breed integrity. Dogs Victoria provides a comprehensive breeder directory and official breed standards to guide quality and consistency across recognised breeds, and they offer educational resources aimed at helping members and the public make informed choices about breed selection, breeding practices, and dog care. The organisation is also active in organising and supporting dog shows, conformation events, trials, and dog sports, creating opportunities for community engagement and for breeders and owners to showcase and evaluate dogs against established standards. Overall, Dogs Victoria emphasizes education, responsible and ethical breeding, and community initiatives to enhance the wellbeing of dogs and the people who care for them.
