Animal Welfare League SA – Edinburgh North is a long-established South Australian animal welfare charity focused on rescuing, caring for and rehoming lost, abandoned and surrendered pets. Founded in 1964 and based in the northern suburbs, the organisation operates multiple facilities including an Animal Care Centre in Wingfield and a shelter at Edinburgh North, and works to place animals into safe, loving homes. They offer a broad range of hands-on services for pet owners and animals: facilitating pet adoption and fostering for cats, dogs and rabbits; providing pet boarding; supporting lost and found reunions; and offering cremation and memorial services for owners who need them. Beyond direct animal care, they engage volunteers and donors to support shelter operations and run community education and outreach programs that promote responsible pet ownership. Their approach combines rehabilitation and compassionate day-to-day care with community involvement, making them a resource for people looking to adopt, foster, rehome an animal, or access boarding and pet-related support services in South Australia.
