Therapy Dogs Adelaide

Therapy Dogs Adelaide is a South Australian community organisation, founded in 2001, that uses the human–animal bond to support people’s wellbeing through trained therapy dogs. They deliver a range of animal-assisted interventions — from dog-assisted learning and literacy support to therapeutic visits and wellness or stress-reduction programs — aimed at helping people manage anxiety, stress and depression and to boost social engagement and confidence. Their programs are used in varied community settings and include educational initiatives, animal-assisted activities, and workplace or healthcare-focused stress-relief sessions. The group works in partnership with local service providers and community organisations, runs volunteer and community engagement initiatives, and places emphasis on selecting dogs with calm, friendly, patient temperaments so both people and animals are safe and comfortable. With over two decades of service, they combine a compassionate approach, a focus on both human and animal welfare, and community-oriented programming designed to support learning, emotional wellbeing and social connection.
