Cat Café Melbourne is a relaxed, cat-focused hangout in the heart of Melbourne where visitors can enjoy coffee and drinks while spending time with friendly resident cats. Open since 2014 as Australia’s first dedicated cat café, it’s designed as a peaceful two-floor space with a cozy ground-floor cat lounge and a café lounge on the first floor, allowing the cats to move freely between areas. Most of the café’s cats are rescued and rehomed animals, and the venue emphasizes animal welfare by raising awareness about adopting rescue cats and giving them a second chance. Guests can play with, pat, and relax alongside the cats in a calm, social setting; walk-ins are welcome but reservations are highly recommended, particularly on busy weekends. The venue also includes a merchandise area offering gifts, accessories, and cat supplies for enthusiasts, and maintains an active community presence to support its rescue and rehoming mission. Cat Café Melbourne is aimed at cat lovers looking for a comforting, social experience that combines casual café service with meaningful interaction and support for rescued cats.
